Boondock Saints Game in the Works

on February 26, 2012 6:00 PM

According to an announcement posted on their website, Critical Mass Interactive has acquired development rights to create a game based on The Boondock Saints. For those who missed the films, think of them as a cross between Wanted and The Departed — with the former’s zany brand of over the top action, and the latter’s distinct Bostonian setting and grit.

The announcement came yesterday with no details about gameplay, release schedule, or which platforms will support it, but Boondock Saints creator Troy Duffy is outspoken in his desire to work on a game for the series, so it can be assumed he will participate on some level.

More information may be forthcoming at next month’s SXSW conference in Austin, as that was the venue from which Duffy first made his interest in a Saints game known. Should the creators fail to provide any information on the new game then, the fact that Critical Mass’s announcement was labeled “Road to E3” implies that we’ll hear something at the gaming conference.

Sto Austin is the man. Period. When not saving the world from the next generation of Metal Gears or throwing hadoukens at his detractors, chances are he's writing about someone else doing something similarly epic, possibly whilst smoking a cigar. He enjoys games with a strong emphasis on story, which typically fall into the RPG, Action/Adventure, or Horror genres, though he also has a soft spot for fighting games and has been known, when feeling saucy, to shred on some Guitar Hero or Rock Band. He currently divides his time between Florida and Maine, tromping up and down the East coast according to the whims of fate and fortune.
