Brutal Legend Developer Working on Sesame Street Kinect Game

It was really just a matter of time until the hottest kid’s show ever met the hottest kid’s toy of the moment. Sesame Street is coming to Kinect for the Xbox, and you might be surprised at the caliber of the developer tackling the project. Double Fine Studios, who’ve built a nearly unbroken string of cult hits such as Psychonauts and Brutal Legend, will be creating the game. CEO Tim Schafer assures us that the feelings behind this project are genuine, saying:

“Sesame Street had a profound effect on me, and many members of the Double Fine team, when we were children. So did video games. Now many of us are parents and we want to share with our kids the great experiences we had, but also the completely new ones made possible by cutting-edge technology like Kinect for Xbox 360. So it’s a labor of love on many levels.”

If it was revealed that any other developer besides this one was working on a Sesame Street game for Kinect, I would probably have turned away and never allowed the thought to cross my mind again. But with a track record like Double Fine’s, I simply can’t help but be interested. Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster will be available for the Xbox 360 later this year.
