With Twitch having been integrated into the functionality of consoles and growing as an increasing online presence, now more than ever games are able to reach more eyeballs not just through advertising and marketing, but through online streams from those who play games both commercially and for pleasure – case in point, Twitch’s newly-crowned champion as the most-streamed game of 2014.
In a tweet by Twitch staff, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was announced to have taken the throne as the most-streamed game of 2014 during launch week, overtaking the previous record held by Destiny during the game’s launch in early September.
In a figure from Variety, Twitch confirmed that Advanced Warfare‘s launch last week led to over 75,000 broadcasts of the game across Twitch, accumulating to a total of 5.4 million hours watched through the streams. This led into a total view count of over 26 million views across six million viewers during the launch week for Advanced Warfare.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is available now for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
