To celebrate Mega Man‘s 25th Anniversary today, Capcom has released Street Fighter X Mega Man for free on the PC and has made some announcements on plans for the franchise’s 25th.

Capcom has announced plans to bring Mega Man 1 – 6 over to the Nintendo 3DS as downloads in a staggered schedule in 2013. Plans for other Mega Man 25th Anniversary events and new licensed products in the Capcom Store will be announced in 2013 as well.

Not quite what Mega Man fans were asking for on everyone’s favorite Blue Boy’s birthday but at least fans will be able to download Street Fighter X Mega Man for free here. Here is hoping that more announcements come that hopefully include some other re-releases such as a certain legendary series as PS One Classics or an anniversary collection box with all Mega Man titles.
