Earlier this year, fans of classic survival horror were in for a treat with Capcom’s Resident Evil HD Remaster bringing back the classic horror title to life once more, and now with its equally-terrifying sequel Resident Evil 2 on the way to a re-release, Capcom assured fans that the new release will reimagine the game from the ground up, rather than just provide a shinier coat of paint.
Capcom’s European head of marketing Stuart Turner confirmed through Twitter that the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 2 that was officially announced earlier this year “will be a full from the ground up remake NOT a remaster,” clarifying that the new release will completely revise the PS1/N64-era title much like the original release of the Resident Evil remake did on GameCube (and its subsequent HD re-release later on).
While other fans on Twitter also asked Turner of a potential release date or other features that may be added to the upcoming remake, Turner simply stated that other details on the Resident Evil 2 remake are still TBD at this time.
Seems to be a few people picking up a mistranslation in our own investor report. RE2 will be a full from the ground up remake NOT a remaster
