Earlier this month, Capcom surprised fighting game enthusiasts with the reveal that Street Fighter V is currently in development, alongside the equally-surprising news that the latest in the long-running fighting franchise will be coming exclusively to PS4 and PC, with more news on the game's development coming from publisher Capcom.

In a press release, Capcom confirmed that the latest in the mega-hit fighting franchise is being developed with Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4, with Capcom producer Bochan Kim speaking on the partnership specifically and mentioning how the engine will improve the game's development:

"Our goal with the next generation of Street Fighter is to take our beloved fighting game franchise and bring it to our fans in the best way possible. In order to fully deliver on that promise, we know we have to incorporate the latest and greatest technology available, which is why we partnered with Epic Games to power Street Fighter V using Unreal Engine 4."

Epic Games Japan manager Taka Kawasaki also added in the press release more details on Street Fighter V use of Unreal Engine 4, saying specifically that "this opportunity to help the development team using Unreal Engine 4 for the new title is a great honor for Epic, and I couldn't be more proud."

Street Fighter V is currently in development for PS4 and PC.
