Capcom Fight Club 2011 NYC Recap

on August 20, 2011 2:00 PM

If there was one thing to be learned about this year’s Capcom Fight Club is that you better start waiting on line now for next year’s. A massive line that started growing out of control earlier in the day for the event that opened up at 6pm. Die-hard fans could not wait to be some of the first to play the latest builds of Street Fighter X Tekken, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition. These builds were so up to date that they had characters in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 that were announced just days before the event (Nemesis and Doctor Strange).

Capcom Fight Club 2011 NYC Recap

We’ve already previewed Street Fighter X Tekken before, and the only difference were some new characters included in this build. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 gave me that same vibe, because, let’s be real here, it’s the same game with more characters. I got to try out all six of the new characters, and for those who don’t know, that includes Firebrand, Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider, Nemesis, Strider Hiryu and Hawkeye. I found myself having a great time with Ghost Rider and Nemesis, because of how powerful they are. Some of the new backgrounds in the game were nice and the music (from what I could hear from all the noise around me) were remixes from the original Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Capcom Fight Club 2011 NYC Recap

The event, located on 540 West 21st Street, was packed, fighting game fans came together to play the latest and greatest fighters, and it was something that was purely fan service from Capcom. Now we wait for all the new fighters to arrive, and first up is Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition which arrives in 3 days. Hope to see you all online and duking it out soon.
