Capcom Reveals Darkstalkers Resurrection, Hints at Darkstalkers 4

A long awaited official announcement regarding a new Darkstalkers game was finally made at the New York Comic-Con yesterday. Capcom has revealed Darkstalkers Resurrection: an enhanced digital re-release that will contain arcade perfect ports of Night Warriors: Darkstalkers’ Revenge (or Darkstalkers 2) and my personal favorite, Darkstalkers 3. Darkstalkers Resurrection will include refined visuals and online multiplayer and will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Furthermore, Capcom’s NYCC panel also contained another Darkstalkers treat. A conceptual video featuring DS characters Dimitri and Lord Raptor was shown. The video utilized CG, giving us our first glimpse of these characters in a new 3D visual style. The video closed with the now famous “Darkstalkers are not dead” card, first shown in 2011. Reportedly, producer Yoshinori Ono does wish to create Darkstalkers 4, but Capcom will be testing fan demand with Darkstalkers Resurrection. Hopefully that video is just a brief glimpse of what will some day be a full Darkstalkers sequel.

The official Darkstalkers Resurrection reveal trailer, as well as fan cam footage of the conceptual video, can be viewed below. Darkstalkers Resurrection will be available in 2013 for $14.99 or 1200 MSP.
