Catherine de’ Medici Leads France in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI

2K and Firaxis have revealed Catherine de’ Medici to be the leader of France in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI through a First Look: France video.

Originally an Italian noblewoman, she wed King Henry II of France and had three children, all of whom would become king during her lifetime. She pulled the strings from behind the scenes, and kept France intact during a tumultuous period.

Catherine specializes in espionage, and will be able to gain extra diplomatic information from every other civilization she meets,

The video also shows off France’s Unique Unit: the Garde Imperale . They get a bonus for fighting on the starting capital’s home continent, and generate Great General Points from kills.

France’s Unique Improvement is the Chateau. When built next to a river, it provides culture and special bonuses for being near wonders.
