When it was announced that Civilization V would not have hot seat multiplayer out of the box, I was rather disappointed, as were several people I know who are big Civ-heads. When my brother and I would play Civilization in the past, this was the means by which we would do it. We didn't have any of this new-fangled online connectivity back in those days. So, we enjoy playing the newer titles like that, as well.

Until now, though, that functionality has been a thing of myth and legend. (Well, sort of. Firaxis has stated in the past that it would be added in a patch post-release, we just didn't know when.) It was announced on the game's forums at 2K's site that the wait is almost over. They will be adding hot seat multiplayer functionality to Civilization V in a new update that currently has a vague release date of "June or possibly early July". We should just be thankful it's coming at all, right?

There will be much more included in this significant update, which will apparently be revealed at a later time as we build up to the patch.
