We've got some great looking new images from Civilization V for you this morning, showing off a near-future Europe (which is still using horse cavalry and World War I-era bomber planes, for some backward reason), and re-introducing Boudicca and Dido, Queens of the Celts and of Carthage, respectively.

We also get a screenshot celebrating the birth of a prophet, coupled with a piece of beautiful concept art showing some monks passing in front of The Leaning Tower of Pisa, so it seems religion will remain in the series. For players who missed Civ IV, the religion mechanic essentially opens up a new level of strategy allowing you to make extra money, gain new political allies, and exploit others in times of war. Interesting stuff -- check it out after the break!
