In what seems to be a series of attacks on video game company websites and databases, Codemasters has sent out an email warning that they have been compromised.
“Unfortunately, Codemasters is the latest victim in on-going targeted attacks against numerous game companies,” they wrote in an email to customers. “We assure you that we are doing everything within our legal means to track down the perpetrators and take action to the full extent of the law.”
The attack took place on Friday, June 3, and allowed whoever breached the site to access names, addresses, passwords, email addresses, Xbox Live Gamertags and IP addresses. Payment information was not compromised.
While it should be common sense at this point, Codemasters is warning those who may have been affected to change passwords and login information – especially if customers use the same password around the Internet.
