Console Version of Dark Souls Gets 1.06 Patch

An update packed with various nerfs and balance tweaks has been released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Namco Bandai’s tough-as-nails RPG Dark Souls. The 1.06 update has snatched away the bottomless box (allowed the transfer of items from one character to another) and Dragon Head Stone (allowed a character to reap infinite souls/exp points) glitches.

It has also weakened a variety of equipment and magic spells, including Chaos Flame, Mask of the Father, Mask of the Mother, Eagle Shield, Black Knight Greataxe, Hornet Ring, Dark Wood Grain Ring, Soul Spear, Crystal Soul Spear, Sunlight Spear and Lightning. The one good thing the 1.06 brings along with it is more bonfires.

This mandatory update sets the stage for the Artorias of the Abyss DLC, which adds the additional content of the Prepare to Die PC version to the console versions. Artorias of the Abyss will be available on October 24th for $14.99 or the MSP equivalent.
