Count Down Site Hints to Grand Theft Auto V for PC, But it’s Most Likely a Prank

on September 15, 2013 4:19 PM

A count down on Rockstarannouncement.com shows imagery of Grand Theft Auto V and a PC platform logo. In addition to that, by hitting the Facebook button it brings up the text “ROCKSTAR ANNOUNCEMENT – GTA 5 PC RELEASE DATE :: NOVEMBER 15TH 2013”

Unfortunately for us PC hopefuls, the site is most probably a prank. A quick domain whois search does not show any data for the registrant, but it does show that the registration service was provided by Namecheap.com, and that by itself smells like a domain squatter.

Add to that the fact that the text above uses the acronym “GTA 5”, that doesn’t feature the official roman numeral, and the fact that the site looks extremely amateurish across the board, and you got a full picture.

Of course it could also be a prank from Rockstar itself, making the site look as amateurish as possible to confuse us, and then making a real announcement at the end of the count down, but that’s highly unlikely.

If you want to be a believer no one will stop you, but don’t tell me I didn’t warn you.
