A big batch of new screenshots has been released for the Sandlot developed action game Earth Defense Force 2025, known in Japan as Earth Defense Force 4. The screens show giant mechs and fighters outfitted with futuristic weaponry doing battle with disgusting giant spiders. As if spiders weren't already troubling enough, this game features giant spiders. Wonderful. There also appears to be a fire spitting dragon or lizard of some sort, and it's pretty unsightly as well. From these shots the visuals seem pretty underwhelming, but perhaps the game will look better actually running on consoles.

Earth Defense Force 4 will be available in Japan on July 4th for the PS3 and Xbox 360. View the new screens below.
