Crimson Shroud’s Launch Trailer is a Homage to Tabletop RPGs

Have you ever played a tabletop RPG with your lovely set of oddly shaped dices and miniatures placed on cardboard floor plans? Then you’ll be right at home with Crimson Shroud, created by JRPG development legend Yasumi Matsuno (you might recognize his name from Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story) and originally part of Level 5’s Guild01 compilation.

The game’s launch trailer shows exactly that, with the dices being thrown on the lower screen of the 3DS and monsters represented by miniatures with their recognizable plastic base. If this isn’t a lovely trip back to my youth, I don’t know what would be. Take it with me by watching the video below.

Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality) and MMORPGs are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
