Dare to be Digital Winners Announced

Dare to be Digital, a PC games design competition made in Scotland for those in school who want to show off their amazing game-making skills has announced the winners for this years competition.

Out of the 80+ universities that applied, Angry Mango, Team Tickle and That Game Studio were the lucky teams to not only win the competition, but to also be the only nominees for the BAFTA Ones to Watch award. With names like “Angry Mango” and “Team Tickle,” how could they not win? Hit the jump to learn about the games they made!

Here are the games that these creative young lads and lasses came up with, each for a different platform:

Angry Mango – Mush
This atmospheric 2D platform puzzler takes full advantage of the Windows Phone 7 tactile inputs, including touch-screen and accelerometer technology. Players can stretch Mush’s facial features with their fingertips to alter his emotions, shake him into a blind destructive rage and tilt the phone to move him around the world.

Team Tickle – Sculpty
Sculpty is a unique physics based platform game for the iPad. It is the only game where users can use their hands to mold Sculpty through the lush jungle environment.

That Game Studio – Twang!
Twang! Is a multiplayer platform racing game, developed for Xbox 360, supporting up to four local players. Offering a cute and colourful visual style and a mixture of fun and simple gameplay mechanics, it is aimed at all ages.

As a congratulations, each team will receive a £2,500 cash prize and become the finalists for the BAFTA Ones to Watch award. Makes we wish I knew how to make games!

Being a gamer since the age of 6 (thanks to my parents), a desire to pursue a career in the gaming industry has been my passion ever since I laid my hands on Sonic the Hedgehog. Some of my favorite games include Shadow of the Colossus, Okami, Duke Nukem 3D, Final Fantasy 6, Killer7 and both the Devil May Cry and Resident Evil series.
