Dark Cloud Leaks as One of the First PS2 Classics for PS4 Emulation

A few weeks ago, Sony confirmed its plans to bring over more PS2 classic titles through to the PS4 for those to enjoy once again (or for the first time), with a classic RPG having seemingly been revealed as one of the next titles to bridge the gap to PS4 through emulation.

While Sony has previously confirmed that the company is planning to bring emulation of classic PS2 titles to the PS4, it was revealed that the classic RPG Dark Cloud appears to be one of the first titles to be announced by Sony for PS2 emulation on the PS4, with an announcement trailer that was accidentally published (but quickly removed) from the official PlayStation YouTube channel.

Though the video itself has now been taken down, a thumbnail image was preserved showing Dark Cloud running on PS4, with users on Twitter reporting the video’s description that the title would be running at 1080p resolution through up-resolution, and that the title would also support trophies, Share Play, and Remote Play.

The description also detailed that “PS2 Classics and PS2-formatted discs are incompatible with the PS4 system,” indicating that emulation of PS2 games will be delivered in another fashion, and with the upcoming PlayStation Experience 2015 happening tomorrow in San Francisco, CA, it seems clear that we can expect an announcement (and more details) on PS2 Classics coming to PS4 in the very near future.
