Fan-favorite Dark Souls is getting the backwards compatibility treatment, according to Microsoft Australia’s listing — now deleted. According to an eagle-eyed Redditor, the Australian pre-order page for Dark Souls III listed Dark Souls as a pre-order bonus. This wouldn’t be the first time something like this happened — Bethesda pulled the same card, giving Fallout 3 to anyone who bought Fallout 4 on Xbox One. Unfortunately, Microsoft took proactive steps to hide this, namely by taking down the entire listing.
Unfortunately, this is far from officially confirmed — while it seems crazy this would just be a placeholder, there is always the option that it could be region specific. More likely, Microsoft was looking to announce this in a specific way, and the listing removal was a way to curb the information. As more information becomes available, we will report on it. Regardless, Dark Souls III is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on March 23, 2016 in Japan and April 12, 2016 worldwide. Would the pre-order bonus push you to buy the game on Microsoft’s home console? Check out the listing below:
