Today -- after Amazon spilled the beans this morning -- publisher THQ Nordic and developer Gunfire Games officially revealed Darksiders III. The reveal comes in the form of a new trailer (via IGN), which you can check at the bottom of the article.

Darksiders III is said to be a post-apocalyptic open-world open-world action-adventure that includes a focus on environmental puzzles and exploration. Additionally, it will continue the series' hack and slash combat, but with a new protagonist Fury, a mage who must rely on her whip and magic to restore the balance between good and evil on Earth.

The game is set around the same time as Darksiders 2, and follows Fury's quest to destroy physical versions of of the Seven Deadly Sins.

As mentioned above, the game's development is being handled by Gunfire Games, who is comprised of many members of old series developer Vigil Games (including the Game Director, Executive Producer, Technical Director, and Lead Environment Artist) and who worked on the above mentioned Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition.

Lars Wingefors, Co-Founder and Group CEO at THQ Nordic accompanied the announcement with the following statement:

"After countless rumors, a major catalogue acquisition, and even a corporate re-brand, the team at THQ Nordic is thrilled to finally confirm plans for Darksiders III.”
