DC Universe Online Goes Free To Play

on September 19, 2011 12:30 PM

Sony Online Entertainment announced today that DC Universe Online will become free to play in October. To be more precise it will implement a hybrid business model with three levels of access: free, premium and legendary.

The game will be free to download and play both on PS3 and PC, and you can see the usual features table that show what each level of access entails here.

This move was pretty much expected since when SOE introduced a cash shop in the game, especially given that DC Universe Online had a rather rocky launch.

Hopefully the new business model will give the game a second chance to popularity, as some of the concepts at it’s core are really interesting and deserve to be enjoyed.
