Trion Worlds share some new information on their highly ambitious ‘Shooter MMO’ called Defiance. Releasing in April 2013, Defiance seeks to reinvent the MMO genre, with a member of the development team describing it as ‘a third person shooter first and an MMO second’. Trion Worlds feel confident that Defiance will be an epic experience that will allow players to customize their play-style however they like. They ended the video by saying that ‘the most revolutionary thing about Defiance is this new level of immersion we create. We allow players to watch the show, play the game and change the world.’

If you aren’t aware, Defiance the game, is being developed in conjunction with a new TV series of the same name, which will release at the same time next year. Developed by Rockne S. O’Bannon and starring Grant Bowler, Defiance is a science fiction series that will follow Joshua Nolan (Grant Bowler), a local lawman in a refugee camp known as Defiance.

Here’s a description of the show from the Defiance website:

“The war lasted another nine years. It changed him. It changed his world.”

Coming soon to Syfy, Defiance is the innovative serial drama from the minds behind Battlestar Galactica and Farscape. Drifting through a terramorphed American landscape, the mysterious Joshua Nolan settles in a border town where aliens and humans fight against the fragility of peace. Tune in weekly as the citizens of Defiance thrive in this hostile world, and see how their struggles impact your war in the high-octane multi-platform MMO shooter from Trion Worlds!

Defiance, developed by Trion Worlds will be released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in April, 2013.
