Since its release last week, Destiny has been quite the discussion point, and though reviews for the title have been somewhat polarizing, sales for Bungie’s shooter/MMO hybrid have been anything but that.
In a statement released by Activision, the publisher announced that total sales for Destiny‘s first five days of release brought in a substantial $325 million in sales, following the company’s previous announcement that Destiny had shipped $500 million into retailers during its debut week.
In addition to the positive sales stats for Destiny so far, Activision also added in that Destiny players have racked in over 100 million hours of game time during its first week, with Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg mentioning that this puts the title “on par with the engagement levels of our most popular Call of Duty games, which obviously is an industry leader.” Hirshberg also added through the press release:
“Millions of gamers are having a great time playing Destiny and can’t put down their controllers. And this is just the beginning. Destiny is a platform that will grow and evolve and we will continue to work closely with our partners at Bungie to bring a long line of new experiences and content to life in the game.”
Destiny is available now on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360.
