You know, it is not like every other person and their mother in addition to every other article and editorial out there is talking about the end of this current generation. One must wonder what exactly is going on Square Enix. In a recent interview with Famitsu, Yoshinori Kitase (producer on Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2, and game director on Final Fantasy VI, VII, and VIII), stated that development had just recently begun on the next Final Fantasy XIII project, a project that many fans are assuming will be the conclusion of Lightning’s story arc. With next-generation announcements expected at next year’s E3 – at the very least – this seems to be cutting it a bit close.

Kitase also affirmed that the exact title of the project will be revealed to the world during their, “Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Saga New Developments Presentation,” at the upcoming Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary event next month.
