Diablo 3 Patch 2.1.0 Hitting PC Tomorrow; Adds Seasons, Greater Rifts and More

on August 25, 2014 7:23 PM

According to Battle.net’s breaking news section on the official application, Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls will be receiving patch 2.1.0 tomorrow.

We will be performing scheduled maintenance beginning on Tuesday, August 26, at 3:00 a.m. PDT to apply patch 2.1.0 and we expect the service to be available again at approximately 1:00 p.m. PDT. During this time the game will be unavailable for play.

Blizzard had previously announced patch 2.1.0 all the way back in June, featuring several new additions and tweaks to the base game. Chief among these new changes are the addition of Seasons, The Vault and Greater Rifts.

Seasons adds a bit of competition to Diablo 3, offering leaderboards that tracks your progress with a fresh character that is separated from your shared stash and paragons levels. New achievements called Conquests will be available for earning as players race towards level 70. New exclusive loot will also be available each season and accessible for your normal characters to after the completion of each season.

The Vault is a new area that can become accessible via a portal that may randomly open after defeating Treasure Goblins. Inside The Vault players can access vast treasures and plenty of gems, while also facing off against a new boss in the form of Baroness Greed.

Greater Rifts are enhanced Nephalem Rifts, offering new challenges and rewards. These special rifts require getting an item called the Keystone of Trials from defeating Rift Guardians on Torment difficulty with level 70 characters. Using the item sends you to the Realm of Trials where you must defeat waves of enemies in a timely manner to determine the level of your Greater Rift. The higher the level, the more the challenge and the greater the rewards, including new legendary gems that can only be found in Greater Rifts.

Get ready to return to Sanctuary to find more of that sweet, sweet loot by checking out the latest pre-patch notes for more insight on the other behind-the-scenes tweaks and changes that your favorite class will be experiencing over at Battle.net.
