At least this time it’s only the auction house, and the game itself is still playable but still it’s sad to see a gaming juggernaut like Diablo III still struggling with serverside issues. Sadly at this rate the bugs and DRM are likely to become the true legacy of the franchise. From the initial massive server issues preventing players from signing in on launch day, to digital copies having a three day wait period, and the constant auction house issues Blizzard seems to be having trouble administering the game.
Not that is completely their fault, nothing on the scale of Diablo III’s DRM and server-side auction houses has been attempted before for an RPG, and Blizzard is blazing a new, if somewhat unpopular trail through uncharted territory. This weekend the Auction Houses, both gold and real money were down again, and though they’re back now it shows that Blizzard still hasn’t gotten everything nailed down. Hopefully minor issues like this are all the game has left to deal with.
