While the Resident Evil series has been long-known for its numerous gaming titles across the years, the series has also had quite a lucrative career in the movie business, as long-time film series director and writer Paul W.S. Anderson confirmed that work on the sixth Resident Evil film has officially begun.

Speaking at the Beijing International Film Festival, writer and director Paul W.S. Anderson spoke on the status of the upcoming film in the Resident Evil (currently known as Resident Evil 6 at this time), mentioning that writing for the film would begin shortly following the festival.

Aside from the start of writing and pre-production work on the film officially underway, Anderson also confirmed a few details regarding the upcoming Resident Evil film, specifically mentioning that actress Li Bingbing will reprise her role as Ada Wong (following her debut appearance in 2012's Resident Evil: Retribution), and that the next movie will "definitely be 3D." Anderson also mentioned the title as "Rising Resident Evil," giving a strong hint that the next film will be titled "Resident Evil: Rising."
