Before Larian Studios began the Kickstarter for Divinity: Original Sin 2, they asked fans for ideas when it came to stretch goals. One was to bring on Chris Avellone, founder of Obsidian Entertainment and developer for Fallout 2 and Planescape: Torment.

While purely a hopeful goal at first, it was announced today in a Kickstarter update that Avellone will indeed be joining the team for development of Divinity: Original Sin 2, after a meeting with Swen Vincke at PAX. He will be lending his talent to develop and write, "at least one of the playable origin stories in the game."

The Kickstarter is currently at $1,688, 636 which also means they have hit the stretch goal to include an editor that allows for dedicated mod support. Larian will bring on a separate team to work exclusively on that portion of the game.
