Divinity: Original Sin’s First Update Showcases the Editor

Divinity: Original Sin is doing very well on Kickstarter, and with $172,255 pledged in a single day by 3,962 backers the “budget increase” needed by Larian Studios seems pretty much in the bag, and then some (at least, that’s the most probable outcome).

Today the developer released the first update starring Creative Director Swen Vincke as he gives Senior Game Designer Axel Droxler the task of adding a “Butcher” quest in the game.

The video shows Axel as he decorates the area for the quest, creates the NPC and gives him and the player characters some simple lines, as you can see in the screencap from the script itself below.

We also see how the quest can be played immediately in the editor to test its synergies. Of course it’s a pretty simple one, but for a modder-at-heart like me it’s really hard not to see the possibilities.

You can see them to in the video below, and if you agree with me you can also add your pledge on the game’s Kickstarter page.
