After several reports came out suggesting Microsoft would release an Xbox One bundle that did not include Kinect after the inital launch, a Microsoft representative set the record straight. The representative told GameSpot that Microsoft has no plans to release an Xbox One without a Kinect and believes $499 is a “great value”.
We have no plans to introduce an Xbox One without Kinect. We believe in Kinect and the value it brings to both games and entertainment, and believe $499 is a great value for what consumers receive with their Xbox One.
While Microsoft has been known to flip-flop when pressured, it appears this policy will remain in place. The new Kinect is said to be 10 times more powerful than its predecessor, but will gamers feel it is worth the extra $100 in November? We shall see.
