Don’t Like Those Wii Motion Plus Controls? Too Bad

In an interview with Official Nintendo Magazine, The Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma waxed poetic on his love for Wii MotionPlus controls, and stated that he can’t see Nintendo returning to the ol’ button standard for future games.

Early in development for Skyward Sword, Aonuma originally thought of scrapping the nontraditional control scheme. But once you go motion, you never go back, and Aonuma swears that it would be difficult to go back to button controls after the rich gaming experience provided by MotionPlus.

“I honestly think we cannot go back to the button controls now, so I think that these controls will be used in future Zelda titles, too,” he said.

This bodes interesting for the upcoming unveiling of the Wii U’s final design at E3 2012. Are you on the motion control bandwagon or do you pine for the old ways?
