Developer id Software has detailed the new content in DOOM's fifth free update, which is available right now, via Bethesda's website today.

First, bots have been added to both Team Deathmatch and Deathmatch modes. Second, multiplayer rank has been extended to Echeleon 11, with the added perk of unlocking "Marine Armor" once you've achieved the feat. Third, a new competitive mode, "Infernal Run", makes its debut.

In the new mode, players will be able to fight for control of an eyeball that has to be carried or thrown into the opponent’s goal to score, because this is DOOM, of course.

In celebration of the new update, players will be given double multiplayer XP from now until December 12th, so if you're a hardcore fan and wanted even more incentive to jump back in, this would be the time.

The game's last update added an arcade modetwo new multiplayer modes, and classic modules to SnapMap. Its final piece of DLC, Bloodfall, releases next week on December 15th.
