Yesterday I reported about the Japanese Minister of Science and Technology Ichita Yamamoto paying an official institutional visit to the Dragon Quest X servers, and today we learn that he was definitely impressed, as he stated in a follow-up interview to the Japanese daily newspaper Nikkan Sports, incidentally also providing us with an interesting snippet of information on the amount of users that connect every day to the game.

It's a theme park with such a sense of scale, with between 250,000 and 300,000 people logging in every day in average.

The gaming industry is the front runner of what can represent the "Cool Japan" on the world's stage. It's refreshing to see this kind of communication within a game. I want to tell Abe [The Japanese Prime Minister].

Yamamoto-san also reminded the players he met in game to do their civic duty and go vote in the upcoming House of Councillors elections. Now, if only more politicians worldwide would follow his example, the relationship between video games and politics would probably be a lot more relaxed.

We can only hope to see Dragon Quest X represent what Yamamoto-san called the "Cool Japan" worldwide soon, especially considering that the game's producer already said that a western release is planned.
