THQ teased the implementation of Dreadnoughts in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine before Christmas, but we still didn't know any detail about them. Today we do, as the publisher officially announced the DLC The Dreadnought (the title is a tad anticlimatic...), that will be released on all platforms on January the 24th in the US and January the 25th in Europe.

The DLC will grant access to a new multiplayer mode named Dreadnought Assault, that will see players fight for a central location. Once the location is conquered, it will spawn a player controlled Dreadnought.

The Dreadnought will be armed to the teeth with an Assault Cannon / Auto Cannon, a Meltagun and a Power Fist / Power Claw and will have to capture points across the map to score points for its team. Once the Dreadnought is destroyed a new spawn point will appear.

The Dreadnought DLC will also include three new multiplayer maps: Desolation, Dome Mechanicus and Chem Refinery and will cost 800 Microsoft Points or $9.99.

In addition to the paid DLC, all Space Marine players will also gain access to a new Capture and Control multiplayer mode for free.
