Drumroll, Please: This Year’s Call of Duty is (Probably) Black Ops 2

on February 17, 2012 5:30 PM

First Amazon France listed Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on its product page before having it yanked by Activision. Then Hugo Beyer, a programmer for Nerve Software, was found to have listed the game on his LinkedIn profile and resume. Now, you may not have seen Nerve on the credits for any previous entries in the Call of Duty series or recall the outfit’s ties to any major publisher or developer. That’s because they handle work outsourced by larger companies. But there it is, plain as day: Two sources announcing that this year’s installment of the war shooter is Black Ops 2. It could have been a publicity stunt, right?

Then again, the French media outlet that broke the story, Gameblog.fr, has reportedly been blacklisted by Activision. And that doesn’t usually happen if it’s just a stunt.
