If there was a zombie apocalypse, I'd probably drown my sorrows with booze before my inevitable de-braining. But the 8 indie developers behind Drunk or Dead foresee that inebriation as a way to survive this new reality. The game is currently on Steam Greenlight as the team work towards a January 20th release date.

In a process that probably did involve drinking, Drunk or Dead came about through a game jam. A '48-hour nonstop Christmas VR game jam' to be precise. The spin here is that the zombie plague only effects those who are sober (Grabbers influence?). You need to take (vodka?) shots to survive but this will effect your ability to aim. However, time begins to slow down making it a little easier to mow your enemies down.

Points are awarded based on kills and how drunk you are. You'll also constantly have to be worrying about your health and sober meter in order to survive. Basically the game plays like a standard shooter with a unique resource management angle.

There's no mention on the Steam page of possible pricing or if you will need VR to play. Since this is Steam, the game will most likely be compatible with the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. For now you can put your beer goggles on and admire some screenshots and a gameplay trailer below.
