Dungeon Defenders 2 Studio Lays off a Bunch of Staff

The studio behind Dungeon Defenders 2 parts with 20% of their team. Changes are coming Trendy Entertainment but the development of Dungeon Defenders 2 seems to have not been halted.

New CEO Darrell Rodriguez of Trendy said the lay offs were necessary in order to make the company profitable. It seems that cash flow concerns were the culprit for the lay offs.

A lot of the culture had already shifted upon my arrival. I’m working closely with devs and leads to create more openness and better communication at all levels of the company. Cultural change does not happen overnight, but we have ongoing efforts to work on better cross-departmental communication, getting the leads directly involved in product planning and holding consistent company wide meetings to ensure we are all on the same page. There’s a long way to go, but we’re on our way.

We actually got to play some Dungeon Defenders 2 at PAX East this year and really had fun with it. Here’s hoping that the talented folks that were let go bounce back fast.
