A few days ago, Koei Tecmo and Sony Interactive Entertainment introduced the first gameplay of Dynasty Warriors 9 during  PlayStation’s press conference just before the China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference (ChinaJoy) in Shanghai. Today, Sony hosted a livestream that showcased a whole lot more gameplay.

The gameplay, recorded by Youku user 狂爷吕奉先DB, gives an extensive look at the game running live on PS4, and while the first gameplay we saw showcased Guan Yu, it’s time for the veteran general Cheng Pu to shine.

We get to see plenty of fighting centered around a giant walled city, exploration of the open world around it, and an assault on the city itself.

Diaochan also appears as an enemy at one point, while at the beginning we see Guan Yu and Liu Bei in his youth, without his iconic goatee and mustache.

Unfortunately, the quality isn’t the best, and the Youku player is really terrible, so we included a reupload on Youtube if you don’t want to go through the enormous amount of ads, frequent resets of the stream, and UI in Chinese to set the video quality.

This is certainly the most extensive look at Dinasty Warriors 9 yet, and video quality and glitches (it’s still an early version after all) aside, it certainly delivers. The open world and the city are quite impressive.

You can check it out for yourself below, and if you want to see more, you can also enjoy the latest character reveal, the first trailer, and another batch of recent screenshots, on top of one showing more of the game’s beautiful open world.

Dynasty Warriors 9 has been announced exclusively for PS4 in Japan, where it will launch by the end of 2017. The western branch of Koei Tecmo already confirmed that a localization in English is coming, but has remained silent on platforms. This could possibly mean that the title might not be a PS4 exclusive in North America and Europe.
