E3 2010: EA, Criterion Announce Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit

Yep, that’s right, the new title that Criterion has teased in the last couple weeks has been revealed during EA’s conference at E3 this afternoon. That title, of course, is Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. Adding a Burnout style to the Need for Speed franchise, Criterion Games is promising lots of explosive action as we’re given the reigns of exotic cars to tear up the streets with, all the while running from the cops.

In the game’s career mode, you’ll be able to take on the role of both racers and cops. As is pretty standard as of late, you’ll be able to connect to your friends in numerous ways, including sharing real-time data about race times, scores and rankings among you and your friends.

Something else to note is that, during the demo at the press event, two players were playing in split-screen mode. This is welcome news, considering Burnout Paradise had nothing of the sort (a disappointment in an otherwise great game, in my opinion).

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is set to hit consoles on November 16, 2010.
