Shipping today, Microsoft just announced at their E3 event that a newly designed Xbox 360 will be shipping out today to retailers for us to cough up another $299 on. The sleek looking console is much smaller, quieter, and now comes with built-in Wifi, along with a 250GB HDD for the same price as the "older" one.

The best part of the announcement, however, was when they announced that anyone who attended today's event would be receiving a free one. Free, folks - as in they don't have to cough up anything besides a smile and a very big thank you to the folks over at Microsoft.

After buying myself a new Elite, I'm still debating whether or not I should now purchase the new 360, with a firm "yes" currently outweighing the "no." As Microsoft's last announcement of the event, the crowd exploded in cheer as everyone sitting there knew they were one of those media folk receiving their on-the-house new Xbox 360. An explosive ending to their event, let's see what both Sony and Nintendo bring to the table. Maybe Sony is going to chuck Move's at people, and Nintendo will give away 3DS's with a goodie bag full of shovelware when they release for free? Highly doubtful; but hey, we can wish, can't we?
