E3 2011: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Co-op Gameplay Impressions

on June 6, 2011 6:29 PM

Ubisoft showed off their upcoming title Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, and its gameplay with 4-player co-op. The game was shown running with four people on the Xbox 360. Standard war-type gaming is shown and it is pretty uninteresting at first. Later on, the on-stage demonstration shows off how the game allows players to go into an invisible stealth mode. This camouflage is, I guess, what makes these soldiers so futuristic.

What was very cool to see were civilians scattered throughout the game and the ability to interact with them. When the soldier rescued a frightened civilian, what ran through my mind was ‘what if this person decided to betray you, or was there to purposely look like an innocent person?” This would definitely be interesting to see, because of the use of playing with the player’s emotions.

The game looked good and looked like it plays a little better than your run-of-the-mill shooter. But, until I get my hands on it, I’m still not sold on why I would play this title over Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3. I guess we’ll see.
