E3 2011: What We Already Knew – NGP Now Officially Known as PlayStation Vita

on June 6, 2011 9:32 PM

Yes, now we know for absolute certainty that the NGP is going to be called the PlayStationVita officially. It will have both Wi-Fi and 3G models so you can game, download and social network on the go. As was rumored, Sony will be teaming up with AT&T, using their network to help run the PSVita’s 3G antenna.

Also coming to the PSVita is a way to chat with your friends wherever you are win within whatever game you’re playing. That’s right, cross-game chat is coming to the new PlayStation Vita and (as of this posting) is still off the grid for the PSN proper. Still the hardware looks sexy, let’s hope a price point is coming up, but with AT&T involved, it may be subsidized out depending if you want a Wi-Fi only model or a 3G enabled model.
