on June 4, 2012 4:52 PM

When Maxis got it’s turn at the EA press conference, we got some great looks at two games that are going to revive the Sim City name with passion. Sim City Social will be a Facebook-based game similar to Farmville or other sim games already there, but taking it into the next dimension with the Sim City experience and gameplay that gamers have grown to love over the years.

The new Sim City too will focus on multiplayer gameplay, not just allowing players with neighboring cities to work together but encouraging them to with challenges and multiplayer achievements. The new Sim City will also feature data visualization allowing for different dynamic overlays as opposed to the older water and electricity grid views. Cities will also be allowed different specializations, though we don’t have any details on those yet.

Also, sometimes the most fun in Sim City can be from destruction. We got to see a sneak peek at all different sorts of disasters, including what looks to be Godzilla! Take a look for yourself below and see for yourself how good this return looks.
