E3 2013: A Real Triple Threat–Two Trailers, An Opening and Screenshots for Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z

A message to Ninja Gaiden fans: today’s your lucky day. Three new videos (two trailers and the game’s opening) and a ton of lovely screenshots have been released for Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, set for an early 2014 release.

Basically, you’re playing as Yaiba Kamikaze who’s been killed by Ryu Hayabusa and has come back for revenge. But first he kinda has to deal with a zombie apocalypse of sorts. He can kill zombies in really ridiculous and hilarious ways, which fills up his Bloodlust meter. Once that meter’s full, he can pretty much kill everything on screen in a beautiful gore filled festival.

The gameplay in Yaiba still retains that frenzied and fanatical pace of the Ninja Gaiden series but with more over the top action, loads more enemies and a more forgiving difficulty. And unlike previous titles, Yaiba is way less serious with (often dirty) humor generously applied throughout. The visuals have been made to be more cel-shaded and stylized to match with the game’s tone, which I absolutely love. Can’t wait to get my hands on it, at any rate.
