E3 2013: Final Fantasy Versus XIII Rebranded Final Fantasy XV; Coming to the PS4 (UPDATED)

on June 10, 2013 10:38 PM

The rumor has been going on for a while, but Square Enix never confirmed it, until now. During the PlayStation press conference at E3 we finally got official word about the fate of Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

The game has been rebranded Final Fantasy XV and will be released on PS4… at the very least seven years after its unveiling in May 2006.

We can only hope that it won’t meet the same fate as Duke Nukem Forever. It would probably be ironic, and it would also give us game writers material to write about for generations to come, but it’d be a massive pity.

One thing is for sure, though, the trailer looked absolutely fantastic.

In the meanwhile I’m quite sure that those belonging to the “I’m excited!” and the “I don’t care anymore!” camps are preparing for field battle all over the internet’s hottest forums. Time to sit back and relax with some pop corn. You can check a bunch of screencaps from the trailer below.

Update: Now you can actually check out the trailer itself as well.
