The voice actor for Solid Snake has finally been revealed to Metal Gear Solid fans--Kiefer Sutherland, who is most famous for his role as Jack Bauer in the television series 24, will be playing the iconic hero. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is currently in development for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Hideo Kojima states that he chose Kiefer since he wanted Snake to have a more subdued voice quality that would better reflect both his 49 years of age and the overall darker and heavier themes of Metal Gear Solid 5. And even though Kiefer says that he's not a gamer himself, he knows how famous Snake is in the video game world and is therefore honored to voice him and be a part of the Metal Gear Solid experience.

Kojima also discusses how the new Fox Engine being used for the game better conveys facial expressions and emotions, which will allow for less explanatory dialogue and more realistic characters. Hopefully it will allow for less cutscenes too. But definitely check out the video of the pre-E3 presentation below--the Metal Gear Solid portion starts at about 10 minutes in.
