After originally releasing last month as one of the season’s biggest titles and in the lead-up to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, EA and DICE’s Star Wars: Battlefront naturally seems like a great platform for future content related to The Force Awakens, though EA may have different plans in mind.
In response to fan questions through Twitter, EA commented in regard to future DLC based on The Force Awakens that “our team is focusing on the original trilogy for this release of Star Wars Battlefront,” indicating that at this time, it appears that The Force Awakens may not be included just yet.
The phrasing of EA’s statement is a bit vague in terms of “this release,” whether that means it won’t be included now or may be a part of the upcoming DLC expansions planned to release as part of the game’s Season Pass, which will include new modes, maps, weapons, Heroes/Villains, and other content throughout 2016.
However, this could also mean that instead content from The Force Awakens may be saved for a future sequel to Star Wars: Battlefront, which EA and DICE have expressed to be likely in the future.
At this time, The Force Awakens is featured as part of the recently-released “Battle of Jakku” DLC, which provides Battlefront with a free map inspired by the film, though set 29 years prior to the events of the film.
Star Wars: Battlefront is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
