EA Sports Season Tickets Launches; Likely Silliest Marketing Gimmick In Recent Memory

on August 3, 2011 3:00 PM

EA has just announced plans to launch a new online service called EA Sports Season Ticket, which will give players a few benefits for $25.00 a year. Players will be able to access games in the FIFA, Madden, NCAA Football, NHL and Tiger Woods PGA Tour. The service will allow digital downloads of games from these franchise three days in advance, access to premium web content via EA’s website, a 20% discount on premium dlc, and an exclusive collector’s badge.

Now while on the surface this may seem like a decent deal, remember that the digital download of the early franchise title will become effectively useless after three days, and the other benefits are just fluff. So unless you have a dire need to play a game that will likely be similar than the last title a few days early, then this is one deal that is not only a huge marketing ploy, but is one that you would do well to skip.
