Developer SnowCastle Games' Kickstarted RPG, Earthlock: Festival of Magic, has been out for quite some time. The game initially launched in early September last year on Xbox One, later to be followed by a PC release. The PlayStation 4 version followed a few months later in late January 2017. But what about the Wii U version of the game that backers had donated money for?

Originally planning to launch in "Early 2017," Earthlock: Festival of Magic was nowhere to be seen. Many backers starting to worry that the Wii U version would be phased out for the currently popular Nintendo Switch, like many other indie games have been doing.

Clearing the air earlier this wee, developer SnowVastle Games gave a brief update regarding the Wii U version. According to the update, the Wii U version is all but completed -- the game is currently running through some quality assurance tests and optimizations:

I would like to ensure you all that we are still working on the Wii U version. We did the first optimization pass in January and were very hopeful that we would be able to release the game soon after that. However during the Quality Assurance process afterwards, we concluded that it needed more work, and so here we are.

Further, Snowcastle -- while hesitant to give an official date -- said that Earthlock: Festival of Magic will be making it out "as soon as possible."

Beyond that, Wii U backers are being rewarded for their patience -- tagged onto the ending, Snowcastle revealed that all Wii U backers will get a copy of the Nintendo Switch version "if and when" it is announced. Weirdly enough, they refused to officially confirm the Nintendo Switch version, ending the update saying this:

(We will announce news about a possible Switch version at a later time.)

While a little bizzare, this isn't the first time SnowCastle Games has vaguely hinted at a Nintendo Switch version being released. In early December, SnowCastle Games' CEO Bendik Stang expressed interest in having Earthlock: Festival of Magic be a Nintendo Switch launch title -- but, once again, would not give a confirmation on the release date.

Earthlock: Festival of Magic is a Norwegian-developed RPGs, inspired by early Square Enix titles. The game made it onto Kickstarter in November 2013, falling over $200,000 short of their $250,000 goal. The game re-launched its Kickstarter in March 2014, clearing their newly-lowered $150,000 goal.

Earthlock: Festival of Magic launched in September for Xbox One (as September’s Games with Gold title), PC, and PlayStation 4 and a Wii U version coming ASAP, as mentioned above. The game is currently available digitally, but will be seeing a physical release soon.
