Eidos Montreal: Thief Sequel Not Entirely Out of the Question

While it does not carry with it the same obnoxiousness that is present in the film industry, it has become customary within the gaming industry to talk about a game’s sequel even days after its predecessor hits shelves. In this case it is regarding the long-awaited Thief. The fourth game in the series, first to be released in a decade, and the first on next-generation consoles may already have a sequel in early stages of development.

“We’ve built a really big universe around the first game, and there’s a lot of layers to it – the world is really deep,” Eidos Montreal’s Nick Cantin told Total Xbox, “So there’s a lot of possibilities to jump on.” Lead Level Designer Daniel Windfeld Schmidt added that, “nothing’s announced yet but we’re very keen to see how people respond to the game.”

Thief was published by Square Enix for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC today.
